Behavioral Health
Convergence has a proven track record in collaborating with organizations to increase patient access to high quality behavioral health services.
We believe that hospitalization is a reachable moment for many people with Opioid Use Disorder (OUD). To accelerate hospital progress in building systems to treat hospitalized patients with OUD and train health care professionals in opioid stewardship practices, Cal Hospital Compare developed the California Opioid Care Honor Roll Program to increase access to addiction treatment for hospitalized patients and reduce opioid-related deaths. Because there are no standardized performance measures for safely and effectively treating pain with opioids, Cal Hospital Compare developed the Opioid Management Hospital Self-Assessment tool. This is both a measurement instrument and a road map of proven strategies for change.
Cal Healthcare Compare makes it easy to find and compare the quality of hospitals and long term care providers in California. Cal Hospital Compare reports psychiatric measures for adult, acute care hospitals with dedicated inpatient behavioral health services and for standalone psychiatric hospitals. On the Cal Long Term Care Compare website, wherever we can, we report mental health outcomes for patients utilizing long term care services. This information is shared with providers, health plans, and other key stakeholders to drive and prioritize quality improvement across the state.
Cal Healthcare Compare’s Hospital Community Health Needs Index (HCHNI) is an interactive mapping tool that is now accessible to California hospitals and health plans. This tool can help guide organizations to identify neighborhoods and their social conditions that most impact health outcomes.
For many years, Dr. Bruce Spurlock served as an advisor with CA Bridge, focused on transforming addiction treatment and prevention. CA Bridge is building on our country’s guarantee of 24/7 emergency care to offer treatment where people are, promote equity, and connect patients to ongoing care.
A recent blog written by Convergence Founder and CEO, Dr. Bruce Spurlock, and Improvement Advisor, Alex Stack, that highlights how we’ve engaged over 150 California hospitals to address the opioid epidemic through the Cal Hospital Compare Opioid Care Honor Roll program.
